BASCA Opens Entries for the 2017 British Composer Awards. Anyone, including the composer, can enter eligible works across eleven award categories.<\/p>\n
The British Composer Awards promote the art of composition, recognise the creative talent of composers and sound artists, and bring their music to a wider audience.<\/p>\n
They are unique in making contemporary music, jazz and sonic art the focus of their annual celebration.<\/p>\n
Works that received a UK premi\u00e8re performance, either live or broadcast, from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017 are eligible across the following categories:<\/p>\n
Solo or Duo
\nSmall Chamber
\nChamber Ensemble
\nChoral
\nWind Band or Brass Band
\nOrchestral
\nStage Works
\nSonic Art
\nContemporary Jazz Composition
\nCommunity or Educational Project
\nAmateur or Young Performers<\/p>\n
The British Composer Awards are presented by BASCA and sponsored by PRS for Music, in association with
\nBBC Radio 3 providing exclusive broadcast coverage.<\/p>\n
The Awards take place on Wednesday 6 December in the BP Lecture Theatre and East Foyer of the British Museum, London.<\/p>\n
