These places are intended to support capacity building in Scotland’s cultural sector and as such are intended to help deliver the future leaders of Scotland’s cultural organisations and festivals. Anyone who meets the core entry requirements for the programme can apply for one of these spaces; however successful candidates will be those whose applications exhibit the strongest commitment to the development of Scotland’s cultural sector and have a clear understanding of how undertaking this programme will allow them to realise their ambitions. Final selection may be based on interview and/or presentation. The 7 spaces are for both full (1 year) and part time (2 year) study, and as such applications are also encouraged from those currently working in the sector who are looking to advance their career and personal development.

Culture and creativity is one of QMU’s academic flagships and we have been offering postgraduate courses in arts management for over 15 years. This course, the only one of its kind in Scotland, has been developed in response to these changes and is rooted in a belief that great leaders in the cultural sector will recognise the value of effective management while acknowledging that approaches may need to be adapted to meet the particularities of cultural organisations and festivals. Through encouraging students to become critically reflective arts management professionals, the course will develop their knowledge of the contemporary issues affecting the management of arts organisations and festivals while equipping them with the practical management skills that are essential for both developing their career in the sector and the sustainability of the organisations they work for.
Modules include:

• Financial Management and Strategy
• Fundraising and Development for Cultural Organisations
• Managing Cultural Projects and Festivals
• Marketing Cultural Organisations and Festivals
• People Management, Governance and Law

For more information on the programme see page 67 of our Postgraduate Prospectus 2017

Apply by the 7th of November 2016 at:

https://u.qmu.ac.uk/live/sits.urd/run/siw_ipp_lgn.login?process=siw_ipp_app&code1=DMMAAFCPA&code2=0008

Location: East Lothian, Edinburgh City

For further information, please contact DStevenson@qmu.ac.uk (DStevenson@qmu.ac.uk), or visit http://www.qmu.ac.uk/prospective_students/Documents/PG%20prospectus%202017.pdf

The deadline is Monday 07 November 2016 at 14:40.

Thanks to support from the Scottish Funding Council, QMU are pleased to be able to offer 7 fully funded places for a January 2017 intake to its popular and long-running MA Arts Festival and Cultural Management degree.
