{"id":1762,"date":"2016-09-28T14:15:17","date_gmt":"2016-09-28T13:15:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/distil\/?p=1762"},"modified":"2016-10-05T09:31:46","modified_gmt":"2016-10-05T08:31:46","slug":"managing-your-finances","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/distil\/managing-your-finances\/","title":{"rendered":"Managing Your Finances"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Who should attend?<br \/>\nThose who want to understand the role of financial management in an effective social enterprise and gain the basic technical knowledge and skills to allow them to improve the financial management of their own organisations.<\/p>\n<p>Course Content<br \/>\nThe course covers all the main aspects of financial management, looking backwards at annual accounts and forwards at financial planning tools, and how these are linked. <\/p>\n<p>The course is split into sessions:<br \/>\n\u2022\tRole of financial management and why it needs to be effective<br \/>\n\u2022\tContext of financial reporting \u2013 who are we reporting to and why?<br \/>\n\u2022\tPrinciples underlying financial accounting and understanding annual financial statements<br \/>\n\u2022\tReporting to the Board and to funders<br \/>\n\u2022\tPlanning forward \u2013 setting and monitoring budgets<br \/>\n\u2022\tKeeping the money flowing &#8211; use of cashflows<\/p>\n<p>By the end of the session you will be:-<br \/>\n\u2022\tless mystified by financial jargon<br \/>\n\u2022\tless bamboozled by annual accounts<br \/>\n\u2022\tconfident enough to make better use of the financial planning tools<br \/>\n\u2022\table to cast an appraising eye over your current financial systems and tweak them to make them work more effectively<\/p>\n<p>Finance Trainer- Pamela Redpath<br \/>\nI am an ACCA-qualified accountant specialising in the voluntary sector, with extensive experience in financial and accounting systems, financial reporting, governance, charity and company regulation and auditing. The move from accountancy practice into the third sector stemmed from a desire to help social economy organisations become more commercially aware and to maximise their potential while retaining their ethos.<\/p>\n<p>I work for Community Enterprise as a social enterprise development officer, working across Scotland. At Community Enterprise we mix business and community experience with common sense and a positive attitude to help make organisations more enterprising and sustainable through income generation.
