Himmerland are without a doubt the most well-travelled band on Denmark’s world and roots music scene. Their performances are a heart-warming burst of colour and happiness – it is impossible not to be whisked along with their beautiful blend of old Danish ballads, whirling fiddle tunes and equilibristic improvisations. The band (Eskil Romme, saxaphone; Ditte Fromseier, fiddle and vocals; Sigurd Hockings, guitar; and Ayi Solomon, percussion) relish in collaborating their musical styles with other like-minded musicians, and for this tour are joined by Scottish fiddler Eilidh Shaw. They are starting on the West coast with gigs in Inverie Village Hall on Friday 24th September (doors/bar 7.30, band on 8.30. Tickets £10 / £5, Primary school kids free), Glenuig Village Hall on Saturday 25th September (doors/bar 7pm, band on 8.30. Tickets £8 / £6), and an informal session in The Crofter’s Rest, Arisaig on Sunday 26th September from 2pm.
