Being part of the Young Traditional Musician of the Year was a fantastic experience. It really pushed me to get some new sets together which I enjoyed arranging for clarsach, piano, guitar and bodhran. For me, the highlight of the weekend was getting to play with such fantastic accompanists who made my sets sound amazing!
The evening went past in a bit of a blur, but luckily I wasn’t as nervous as I was expecting. I really enjoyed myself and getting to play in such a beautiful venue was an honour. The whole experience has given me a huge push to keep on playing and hopefully will open a few doors in the future. Massive well done to Mohsen who was a very worthy winner!
I would highly recommend that anyone thinking on entering the competition goes for it, you won’t regret it. I’m really looking forward to taking part in the young trad tour and recording an album with the other finalists.
